Description:

When I tell people I have backyard chickens in Alaska, many people ask me, “But how do they live outside in the winter??” This conversational beginner’s class will go over some of the chicken basics for curious future chicken owners or newbies who are concerned for their first winter with chickens.

We’ll talk about:
– winter coop preparation
– water accommodations
– changes in egg laying
– molt expectations

Bring all questions! Nothing is too small or dumb.

Recommended experience: Beginner
Required supplies: Footwear you wouldn't be sad if you stepped in chicken poop. Dress warm. We'll be outside, unless it's pouring rain.
